Put your light on

When people worried about the Millenium Bug, this song was core.  After US writer Everlast, recommended it to ’70s guitar legend Carlos Santana, it won a Grammy Award in 2000 for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal.

‘Put Your Lights On’  was overlooked by mainstream radio on release but made it big on FM. Everlast says he wrote it when recovering from heart trouble after completing recording his first solo album, Whitey Ford Sings the Blues. He calls it one of his “most personal songs … about hope, but … coming from a really dark place …  really questioning a lot of your beliefs, and affirming, you know, stuff in your soul.”
